Public Housing is long-term, affordable housing for people living in NSW on low incomes who are unable to rent privately. The properties are managed by the Department of Housing.
Tenants living in Public Housing have Rights and Responsibilities. These are set out in their Residential Tenancy Agreement and in the Department's policies. The Tenancy Agreement and policies conform to the Residential Tenancies Act 1987 and the Housing Act.
Tenants responsibilities include paying their rent by the due date, keeping the property clean and reporting any faults or damage as soon as they occur.
The Department's responsibilities include paying for council rates, making sure your home is clean before you move in and organising urgent repairs within a reasonable time.
