Apply for Aboriginal Housing

The Department of Housing provides public housing and housing related services, which are appropriate to the needs of Aboriginal people in NSW. See the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander section of this site for more information.

 

The Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO) plays an important role in supporting self-determination in the management of services for Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders.

 

The Department of Housing currently acts as a managing agent for the AHO and provides the following services for these properties:

  • Allocations
  • Tenancy management
  • Property management.

These services are provided as negotiated with the AHO and documented in the Service Agreement between the Department and the AHO.

 

Eligible Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders can also access Public Housing, Community Housing, and all other Departmental services such as Priority Housing, Rentstart , Special Assistance Subsidy - Special  and Special Assistance Subsidy - Disability, Rental Subsidy.
