The National Community Housing Standards Manual - Third Edition
The third edition of the National Community Housing Standards Manual (PDF file, 5MB) was launched nationally by the Federal Housing Minister, Tanya Plibersek MP, on Wednesday 9 June 2010 in conjunction with the Community Housing Federation of Australia.
The most recent review has been undertaken to ensure that the Standards reflect significant changes in the operating environment for community housing providers and developments in industry good practice.
Where relevant, the revised standards also attempt to provide guidance around additional expectations for larger, growing organisations.
The review of the National Community Housing Standards involved extensive consultation with stakeholders across Australia. Community housing peak bodies, the Community Housing Federation of Australia and the NSW Federation of Housing Associations have been closely involved in finalising the Standards for use by the industry.
The National Community Housing Standards provide a nationally consistent framework to accredit community housing and provide service users with an assurance of quality. The standards can be used by all types and sizes of organisations to achieve continuous quality improvement and improve service delivery.
In NSW, Global-Mark, a non government certification provider, offers accreditation of community housing providers against the new National Community Housing Standards. Community housing providers can apply to Global Mark for certification as an Accredited Housing Provider on a fee for service basis.
