The Registrar of Community Housing is responsible for the registration and regulation of community housing providers in NSW, under the Housing Act 2001 (NSW) and the Housing Regulation 2009.
The Housing Regulation 2009, which commenced on 1 May 2009, replaces the Performance Based Regulatory System (PBRS). Under the Housing Regulation 2009, organisations that receive assistance from Housing NSW need to be registered.
The Registrar reports directly to the Minister for Housing and registers community housing providers independently of Housing NSW.
