Rosemeadow and Ambarvale Improvements

On 15 September 2009, a funding package worth almost $40 million was announced to help low income families to buy a home, revitalise public housing and improve the quality of life for the local communities in Rosemeadow and Ambarvale.

The package includes:

  • $9.89 million from the Commonwealth's Housing Affordability Fund to develop homes and building lots that will be sold to eligible owner occupiers in the low or moderate income bracket - particularly first home owners, at a discounted price;
  • a further $30 million to upgrade and renovate 550 public housing homes, extend local roads and create new Torrens Title subdivisions.

A total of about 100 homes will need to be demolished to allow the development of the new building lots and road extensions. As with all developments by Housing NSW, residents living in the affected homes will be found alternative public housing and Housing NSW will pay for all reasonable removal costs and the cost of reconnecting to services.

These initiatives build on the $20 million strategy, under the Australian Government’s Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan, to construct 50 senior’s living units in Macbeth Way. In addition, Housing NSW are upgrading 57 townhouses in Malcolm and MacDuff Ways Rosemeadow. Both these projects have now commenced.
