Tenant Connect

Housing NSW, in partnership with Australian Red Cross, offers a free and voluntary service to older social housing tenants. If you live alone and have limited contact with family or friends, you can choose to receive a reassuring telephone call daily from a caring Red Cross volunteer to confirm you are safe and well. The service is called Tenant Connect. To be eligible for Tenant Connect, a person must:

  • be a tenant living in NSW public housing, Aboriginal Housing Office properties managed by Housing NSW, or mainstream community housing
  • be aged 70 years or over (45 years or over for Aboriginal tenants)
  • live alone
  • not be in daily contact with someone
  • have the telephone connected or be willing to have it connected (Red Cross may be able to help tenants gain access to a phone via a service provider free of charge)
  • have two people who can act as a key contact consent to the service.

More information on Tenant Connect is available at the Red Cross website.
