Green Street Program

In November 2009, the Green Street Program was launched as a new Housing NSW program to improve the environment around many public housing areas. The projects include planting street trees in selected main streets, community gardens and neighbourhood parks.

Planting street trees has many advantages, not only for the main street but for the whole community, including reducing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, improving the look of the area, and encouraging birds and wildlife.

Over time, Housing NSW in partnership with local councils will extend the Green Street Program to more streets in public housing areas.
