The majority of homes delivered under the Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan will be managed by local community housing providers. Housing NSW is also accelerating the growth of community housing by transferring the management of around 3,000 properties to community housing by June 2010.
This is part of the NSW Government’s commitment in supporting the growth and sustainability of the community housing sector under Planning for the Future: New directions for community housing in New South Wales 2007/08 – 2012-13 and a number of reforms signed up to by states and territories under the Australian Government’s National Affordable Housing Agreement.
Housing NSW is committed to working closely with community housing providers to create a larger and more flexible housing system that will provide more housing assistance for those in need.
Community Housing Briefing on Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan
A number of community housing providers attended a briefing on the Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan (NBESP) in Sydney on 13 May 2009. The briefing featured guest speakers including the Minister for Housing, the Hon. David Borger, Housing NSW Director General Mike Allen, Housing NSW NBESP Coordinator Paul Vevers and Housing NSW Executive Director Leonie King.
Attendees heard how the NBESP will support growth of the community housing sector, with the majority of properties built under the Plan to be transferred to community housing providers. The Community Housing Forum Presentation (PDF file, 1.2MB) and Forum Questions and Answers (PDF file, 119KB) from the briefing are now available.
