Sometimes getting a project going requires access to resources or experience not possessed by one organisation alone. The Centre for Affordable Housing brings together potential partners to create opportunities for the development of new projects.

For example:

  • A developer seeks advice on the incentives that may be available if they are prepared to incorporate affordable housing into a proposed development
  • A church has surplus land and an interest in providing housing for a particular target group on low-to-moderate incomes. To successfully establish a project, the church might need to link up with a developer interested in a partnership or joint venture, and also possibly a group with affordable housing management experience
  • A council has landholdings and is interested in including an affordable housing component in a development. The council might like to look at established successful developments and work with developers with experience in this area. As the development approaches completion, the council may then need to look at existing approaches to the selection of housing managers, as well as obtaining details of the most reputable housing managers in their area
  • A developer is required by local government to include an affordable housing component in a development proposal. The developer might need advice on how to best meet this requirement, and to be linked to a group with experience in the management of affordable housing.

In each of these cases, the Centre for Affordable Housing can work with the client to establish what they need and the best way to make it happen.
