Affordable housing works best when it links visually with its community. Affordable housing developments have won design awards, for example at City West Housing in Pyrmont, Sydney. Since 1994, City West has provided 365 affordable dwellings in Ultimo and Pyrmont.
The Honeysuckle Development Corporation in Newcastle, NSW is a NSW State Government organisation responsible for one of Australia’s largest urban renewal projects. By August 2003, 167 of the 187 dwellings had been constructed.
