Highlights of 2005-06
- Investment in new supply provided 779 new units,
bringing the social housing portfolio up to 142,000 dwellings.
- Around 327,000 people were housed, of which
254,000 live in public housing and 73,000 in community housing (incl. crisis accommodation).
- Further, over 58,000 assistances were provided to
over 35,000 households in the private rental market through Rentstart, Tenancy Guarantees and Special Assistance Subsidies.
- Plans were announced for transforming the Gordon
Estate at West Dubbo.
- New Directions in Social Housing for Older People
strategy is part of a plan to boost the supply of affordable housing for older people in NSW.
- Changes announced under the Reshaping Public
Housing reforms commenced in 2005–06.
- Water-saving devices have been fitted to a total of
30,000 properties under the WaterFix program.
- Acquired 93 units of accommodation for
management by community housing organisations for the Housing and Accommodation Support Initiative (HASI).
