Rosemary was a casual swimming instructor who, after losing her job, was unable to meet her mortgage repayments and day-to-day expenses. She, and her two young children, faced the prospect of losing their family home.
Rosemary struggled on for some months but eventually her lender commenced legal action against her for being in default on her mortgage. At the same time, her lender suggested she contact the Mortgage Assistance Scheme to see if she was eligible for financial help.
Shortly after applying, Rosemary was told she had been successful in obtaining Mortgage Assistance for an initial six months. After such a long period of financial pressure and emotional trauma, there was an overwhelming sense of relief for Rosemary. She found the Scheme’s staff to be very helpful and was particularly grateful that they acknowledged the “tough times” she had been through.
“To be told that everything I had been feeling was perfectly normal just lifted me”, Rosemary said.
Rosemary’s financial future and prospects have improved. She has secured casual work and, with financial assistance from the Scheme, is managing to meet her commitments. There is also the very real possibility of securing full-time employment in the near future.
Thanks to the financial assistance provided by the Mortgage Assistance Scheme, Rosemary and her children can keep their family home.
