The Minister for Housing announced a new vision for Macquarie Fields in Sydney’s West which includes:
- creating affordable housing opportunities for first home buyers and encouraging our tenants to buy their homes
- building specially designed homes for seniors (both public and private)
- creating employment and training opportunities for tenants.
One of the main objectives with Housing NSW redevelopments is to create a mix of public and private residents. This is also the case for Macquarie Fields. By selling properties, continuing with community regeneration activities and creating a seniors precinct, we will help to build a stronger and more diverse Macquarie Fields community.
The next stage of this strategy is to identify the areas of Macquarie Fields that will be sold. Consultations with the community and other stakeholders have already begun and will continue. Please refer to the Macquarie Fields Questions & Answers (PDF file, 73KB) for further information.
