Housing NSW announces new Tenders

January 29th, 2008

Housing NSW is calling for tenders from developers to redevelop three sites in Byron Bay, Tamworth and North Parramatta.

Each site will be developed into a series of community housing units, with the North Parramatta site designed specifically for older people in need.

The North Parramatta site at Webb and Gladstone Streets will be developed into 16 new senior living units which are expected to be completed by February 2009.

When complete the redevelopment will feature 12 one-bedroom and four
two-bedroom units. The units suited to older people will provide greater functional enhancements such as living rooms that are accessible for people with impaired or restricted mobility.

In Tamworth, the site at Napier and Roderick Streets will be redeveloped into 16
one-bedroom units, one-adaptable unit and a office and common room.

The units have been designed to ensure better lifestyle conditions for tenants, especially those who require and receive additional care. The successful tenderer for the units is expected to have the project completed by February 2009.

Tenders for Housing NSW’s site in Keats Street, Byron Bay are for the construction of five community housing units.

The complex when complete will include three two-bedroom units and two
two-bedroom townhouses, each has been designed to offer modern bedrooms, bathroom and laundry.

The successful tenderer for the units is expected to have the project completed by December 2008.

The construction on all the sites; Tamworth, Byron Bay and North Parramatta are another example of Housing NSW’s commitment to social housing in NSW.

The addition of these community housing units across the state is making sure Housing NSW’s investment in community housing meets the growing demand of people and households in need.

Each of the developments is indicative of the Iemma Government’s commitment to providing affordable local housing for those most in need, and its commitment to increasing the number of community housing properties in NSW from 13,000 to 30,000 over the next ten years.

Tenders for each development will be accepted until 3pm, Monday 25 February, 2008.
