Public Housing Boost for Ashcroft

The completion of 16 new public housing units for people in need in Ashcroft was announced today.

The complex, valued at $3.9 million, will go a long way towards meeting the need for more public housing in the area.

Ga Giusti Constructions who were awarded the project tender developed the units on land previously occupied by three older style cottages which no longer met the needs of our tenants,

Tthe new complex consists of 16 two-bedroom units, with eight units fully adaptable to suit disabled people, and secure underground parking and lift access to all units.

The complex has been specifically designed by Jackson Teece Architects to provide greater functional enhancements and minimise impact to the site. All units have north facing balconies allowing for full sunlight which is more efficient in the winter months, and the site’s natural landscaping requires minimal maintenance.

This development is indicative of the Iemma Government’s commitment to providing housing for those most in need and delivering on its commitments under the State Plan.
