More Community Housing for Broken Hill

October 22nd 2007

Housing NSW today called for tenders from not-for-profit community housing providers to manage social housing in Broken Hill.

The aim is to ensure that all housing in the Broken Hill area is managed by a single community housing provider and that tenants get the services they need more effectively and efficiently.

These homes are currently a mix of Housing NSW properties and community housing managed by non-government providers. Following a rigorous selection process, the new provider is expected to be fully operational in Broken Hill by March 2008.

Local stakeholders such as tenants, applicants and community organisations will continue to be engaged throughout the tender.

Once a housing provider has been selected they will start working with tenants and the community to plan for the future.

Tender advertisements were placed in the local press as well as in the major metropolitan Sydney and Melbourne newspapers advising on how to get more information on the tender.

The tender closes November 19 2007.
