The 1900s

  • Sydney Harbour Trust and The Rocks Resumption Board, set up by the Government to improve living conditions following an outbreak of the Plague at Millers Point
  • 1901 the Sydney Harbour Trust has a portfolio of over 800 properties rented at market rents, and became perhaps the first government housing authority in NSW
  • 1906 the NSW Government adopted the Local Government Act enforcing reasonable building and health standards in the construction of housing.
