Gorokan development wins Housing Industry award

A redevelopment project on the Central Coast has won the Special Purpose Housing category at the 2006 HIA/CSR Hunter Housing Industry Awards.

The winning property, located at Gorokan, was recognised for its design, quality of workmanship, visual appeal, originality, innovation and value. The 18-unit development was designed specifically to meet the needs of older public housing residents.

Each apartment has a large open plan living area and the development features private rear yards or balconies, common areas, intercom entry, security lighting and on site parking.

The Gorokan Drive complex was designed by architect Sinas Kurtovic and project managed by Wayne Golledge.

The award paid tribute to the Department’s innovative approach to meeting housing tenants needs for specialist housing on the Central Coast.

It was judged to be one of the very best in the region at meeting the housing needs of older residents.
