The Department was nominated in seven of nine categories and won three awards at the annual NSW Premier’s Public Sector Awards held on 10 November.
The winning projects are:
The Housing and Accommodation Support Initiative (HASI), which received the Gold award in the Service Delivery category. HASI is a state wide partnership between the Department and NSW Health that delivers secure affordable housing and rehabilitation for people living with a range of psychiatric disabilities. The partnership brings together community housing providers, area mental health services and rehabilitation support providers;
- The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mentoring Program received a silver award in the Workforce Development category. The program provides Aboriginal staff members with career development and support to reach their full potential. The Mentoring Program is currently in its second year; and
- The Performance Based Registration System, won bronze in the Business, Management and Financial Performance category. The PBRS ensures community housing providers use Government funds efficiently by reporting on the providers’ performance in the areas of financial sustainability, good governance and service quality. The PBRS was developed by the Office of Community Housing.
The other nominated projects were:
- Partners in Employment (Greater Western Sydney)
- Priority Access Link (Illawarra)
- Community Housing Insurance Scheme (Office of Community Housing)
- Public Housing Tenant Participation in Northern NSW (Northern NSW)
A total of 152 nominations were received from a wide cross section of public sector agencies for the 10th Public Sector Awards.
